Kookaburra

It is winter school holidays here in Tasmania so Heidi (10) and Samuel (8) have been for a sleep over. Even in winter the Kookaburras sit high in the gum trees laughing at us.

Heidi and Samuel helped me tangle this Kookaburra while we waited for the day to warm up enough for a bush walk.

A frosty morning looking toward Launceston from our front veranda.

  1. Lovely ZIA ! It immediately transported me to my childhood where I had learnt the song.....

Merry, merry king of the bush is he
    Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!
    Gay your life must be!

I now reflect that living in India , I have never seen a real Kookaburra , but the song was quite popular during those days!

  2. Oh yes, we learnt that song also but I never imagined children in India singing it, that's great!

  3. We have very warm and beautiful summer weather. Perhaps we live long way to each other :-D

  4. We learned the Kookaburra song in grade school in the USA, too. Wonderful memories of singing it in rounds during recess on bad weather days. A lovely piece of cooperative art!

  5. I follow your blog and I love your zentangles, they are very imaginative and accurate and inspired my attempts.
I love the mix of colours and in my drawings I also use two colors of ink or watercolor underpainting and colored pancils. The kookaburra is wonderful, even if I ever seen one because I live in Italy

  6. Great tangling of the Kookaburra! What fun. And that view of the mountains/hills from your veranda is just lovely! I feel a happy karma when I look at it. *big sigh*
